Mission Grant

Providing one-time grants of up to $500 to veterans, active-duty service members, spouses and military family members facing an immediate and demonstrated financial need.

We have all seen him. An older man wearing a beat-up Vietnam Veteran cap sitting in a health clinic or standing in line at the grocery store. We don’t know his circumstances, and we shouldn’t assume we do. But we also know that there are veterans in our community living one check away from losing their home, one unexpected expense away from not paying the electric bill, or one medication away from ending up in the emergency room.

It might be the young military family whose car suddenly needs a $400 repair and that is the only way they get to work. It might be the widow of a veteran trying to make the groceries last until the end of the month. It might be someone who served this country decades ago and now finds that a few hundred dollars stands between a difficult situation and a genuine crisis.

These are the people our Mission Grant is intended to help.

Mission Grant is one of the ways AFA Palm Springs Chapter 134 is putting the mission of the Air & Space Forces Association, Educate. Advocate. Support., into action.

Our Mission Grant program will provide one-time grants of up to $500 to veterans, active-duty service members, spouses and military family members facing an immediate and demonstrated financial need. The program is intended to help with those relatively small but critical expenses that can make an enormous difference at the right moment.

Requests for assistance will be reviewed by a small Chapter committee, and applicants and recipients will be treated confidentially. We do not believe someone should have to publicly share a difficult personal situation in order to ask for help.

We are currently putting the Mission Grant application and procedures in place. An online application will be available on this page soon.

Until then, if you have questions about Mission Grant or would like additional information, please email:

We cannot solve every problem. But sometimes as much as $500 can solve the problem that matters right now.
